About Rose

Rose Winstanley-Trefz began her career tuning pianos in 1976 while in the 11th grade at
Waterford Mott High School, in Waterford, MI. She was studying with an exceptional choral teacher, Mr. Mel Rookus, who gave a lecture one day on piano tuning. Rose knew at that moment that tuning pianos was what she wanted to do for her career. Rose apprenticed with John Quitmeyer, owner of the Piano Shoppe in Rochester, Michigan. By the time she graduated from High School, Rose was actively tuning pianos in private homes.

One of Rose’s early careers goals was to be a concert technician for a local outdoor music theater, Pine Knob Music Theater, in Clarkston MI, where she attended many concerts. At the age of 20 years old, Rose was tuning for famous groups such as: The Moody Blues, Journey, Beach Boys, Chicago, Bette Midler, Pat Benatar, Peter Frampton, Donna Summer and others. Rose worked with the Steinway/Yamaha dealer, Hammell Music in Livonia, MI. Rose also received training from Yamaha Piano’s Little Red Schoolhouse and Kimball Piano School.

Rose met her husband John Trefz, www.johntrefz.com at a Piano Technicians Guild conference in 1986. Rose and John’s was a case of love at first sight. She moved to Pennsylvania in 1987 and did concert and in store tuning for Jacob’s Music in Philadelphia. Rose has built up a very successful business tuning pianos in private homes, Swarthmore College, Darlington Fine Arts, Suburban Music School, Rose Tree Park outdoor concerts, Springfield and Swarthmore Music Stores. In the past few years Rose has diversified her business to include Living In Tune Life Coaching.

Rose’s Interests: Rose loves music, reading books and learning about new things. Rose has been interested in spirituality and has been active studying about religions and spiritual perspectives for many years. She loves the writings of Eckhart Tolle, Kahlil Gibran, Dr. Wayne Dyer,  and many others great teachers. In June of 2000, Rose had the opportunity to meet and study with Yogi Amrit Desai, the founder of Kripalu Yoga and Amrit Yoga. Rose’s experience was transformational in this encounter and the realization that all spiritual traditions are life enhancing and unifying. www.amrityoga.com

Rose is a member at Christ Church, Ridley Park where she received Chaplaincy Training and hasbeen active as a Eucharistic Minister. www.ChristChurchRidleyPark.Org Walks, bike rides andsinging with her husband John, and spending quality time with her grand-daughter Serena, healthand wellness are also very important to Rose. Her favorite places to visit are John Heinz Wildlife Refuge and Scott Arboretum at Swarthmore College.
