Quiet The Mind

“Meditation is not a way of making your mind quiet. It is a way of entering into the quiet that is already there -buried under the 50,000 thoughtsthe average person thinks every day.” ~Deepak Chopra

The Seven Blunders Of The World

The Seven Blunders of the World is a list that Gandhi gave to his grandson Arun Gandhi, written on a piece of paper, on their final day together, shortly before his assassination.

The seven blunders are:
* Wealth without work.
* Pleasure without conscience.
* Knowledge without character.
* Commerce without morality.
* Science without humanity.
* Worship without sacrifice.
* Politics without principle.

Be Your Own Best Friend

How do you attract a true friend, one who will help you on your path to build the strongest heart, create the deepest character, and nurture the greatest self-respect? Avoid wasting time with people who do not help you better yourself, who only distract you from feelings of loneliness. Use your solitude as the most valuable time to forge your self-identity and become your own best friend, the person you once dreamed of finding.  This path requires self-reliance and patience, while the easy way, the way of superficial friends, is paved with insecurity and impatience.  As you progress in this magnificent and arduous spiritual evolution, you will develop a rock-solid foundation of happiness beyond your wildest dreams and thus, naturally, attract true friendship. ~From Taro Gold

The Charter For Compassion

Please watch the You Tube Video Version of The Charter For Compassion and Please Share!
THE CHARTER FOR COMPASSION
The principle of compassion lies at the heart of all religious, ethical and spiritual traditions, calling us always to treat all others as we wish to be treated ourselves. Compassion impels us to work tirelessly to alleviate the suffering of our fellow creatures, to dethrone ourselves from the center of our world and put another there, and to honor the inviolable sanctity of every single human being, treating everybody, without exception, with absolute justice, equity and respect.
It is also necessary in both public and private life to refrain consistently and empathically from inflicting pain. To act or speak violently out of spite, chauvinism, or self-interest, to impoverish, exploit or deny basic rights to anybody, and to incite hatred by denigrating others—even our enemies—is a denial of our common humanity. We acknowledge that we have failed to live compassionately and that some have even increased the sum of human misery in the name of religion.
We therefore call upon all men and women ~ to restore compassion to the center of morality and religion ~ to return to the ancient principle that any interpretation of scripture that breeds violence, hatred or disdain is illegitimate ~ to ensure that youth are given accurate and respectful information about other traditions, religions and cultures ~ to encourage a positive appreciation of cultural and religious diversity ~ to cultivate an informed empathy with the suffering of all human beings—even those regarded as enemies.
We urgently need to make compassion a clear, luminous and dynamic force in our polarized world. Rooted in a principled determination to transcend selfishness, compassion can break down political, dogmatic, ideological and religious boundaries. Born of our deep interdependence, compassion is essential to human relationships and to a fulfilled humanity. It is the path to enlightenment, and indispensible to the creation of a just economy and a peaceful global community.

Have A Peaceful & Inspired Attitude Daily

“Watch your manner of speech if you wish to develop a peaceful state of mind. Start each day by affirming peaceful, contented, and happy attitudes and your day will tend to be pleasant and successful.” ~Norman Vincent Peale.

I find this statement to be very true. Most days I begin by reading inspirational quotes for my posts on Facebook, or if I need quiet time, I have a room in my house which is where I do my spiritual studies, yoga & qi gong, and meditation. This room is a sanctuary for me, and whenever I have issues to deal with, or I feel anxious, I head to my peaceful room to sit, read, or just gaze out the window…We all need places like this, even if it is a corner of a room somewhere in your home that is set aside for time to recharge and refresh your energy.

Taking the time in the beginning of a day to get inspired is critical toward having a positive attitude on a daily basis. Some people get out of bed and first thing turn on the TV, radio or computer and start reading or listening to the latest “news,” the latest bits of insanity about what is going on in the world. If you do this, please notice how you feel after you walk away from this negative bombardment of information. Notice how your body feels. Are you tense, more anxious, sad or depressed? If so, please try something new.  If this is your normal  pattern, get up in the morning, and practice saying “Thanks for a new day!” first thing when you are conscious. Spend a few moments before getting out of bed telling yourself that you are going to have a great day. Tell yourself that you have everything you need to enjoy the here and now. Relax completely for a minute or two while taking some deep breaths. Then do some gentle stretching before getting out of bed.  Do not turn on the TV or radio unless it is tuned into something soothing and peaceful. The idea is to spend time in quiet, or find something inspirational to listen to or read. I have a little booklet with daily affirmations which you can also find online which is called the ‘Daily Word.’ I always feel better after reading this booklet, but since it is Christian based and this wouldnt resonate with everyone, find something that really lightens your thoughts, feelings and mood. There are many online sites for inspiration and countless books and materials to tap into that you can gather that is specifically for you.  If you just take this one step toward having a peaceful and inspired morning you are going to have better and brighter days. You will be Living In Tune!

Tuning Into The Authentic Self

When we look closely at our lives it is important to tune into and discover the authentic place within us that is about who we are, based on our own personal experience, knowledge, and how we process the accumulated “stuff” of our lifetime. Tuning into our authent…ic self goes beyond childhood environmental influences, nationality, color, creed, labels, and real or imagined limitations. It goes beyond the past, and takes us, step by step into the unknown where we discover unexplored freedom that is the future. Each step takes us closer to the core, the essence of who we truly are. The veils come from our eyes one at a time, or suddenly we see what we are meant to see with absolute clarity. Tuning into the authentic self is about listening to our intuition and fulfilling our needs to be certain we feel content and grateful on a daily basis. Tuning into our authentic self is to feel that we are doing what we are meant to be doing and the result is living more meaningful lives.

The big quantum leap comes when we can take all that we are and find ways to bring forth what is our authentic and ultimate purpose is in life. It’s not about replicating someone else’s style; it’s about the creation of our own unique style. It’s knowing that we are a part of everything that exists, as each raindrop is unique in the midst of a rainstorm, yet still an essential part of the whole, which leads to a feeling of unity and oneness for all of humanity.

Tuning into our authentic self is about the exciting discovery of what really matters in this adventure called life, how to express and realize what is meant for us alone to bring into this vast cosmic ocean of existence, which we only know as one short lifetime. Tuning into the authentic self is finding ways to impact the world and those around us in a positive way. Tuning into the authentic self is about learning how to forgive, learning how to love unconditionally, and discovering the beauty that is everywhere. Tuning into the authentic self is embracing every failure and success and transforming every subtle nuance; all the joy, sorrow, pain and pleasure into the master opus that is our lives.
